We recently came across a fascinating story about a couple making preparations to strike out on an amazing adventure in just a couple of weeks. Much like the brave men and women who settled this great country, Mark Paulissen and Mary Sodano are preparing to leave behind the lives they know to embark on a 2500 mile bike ride journey to find new adventures in new places. They’ll also be riding for a cause near to their hearts.
They Ride for Adventure…They Ride for Awareness
Their journey will take them from their current home in Tampa, Florida to Denver, Colorado. They will take with them only the possessions they can carry on their two bikes. We were so intrigued with their spirit of adventure and their passion for building awareness for Hydrocephalus that Celsius has offered to match the first $3000 of donations they raise for the Hydrocephalus Association.
Mark and Mary also invited us to follow them on their journey. We are hosting this blog to allow them to share their amazing journey with our fans and readers. We have named this special section of our blog “Spirit of America” and hope you will stay tuned to follow them with us. In addition to updates here, Mark and Mary will share their adventure through several social channels that you can follow as well.
The Spirit of America Ride for Hydrocephalus is characterized by Mark and Mary’s generous spirit as much as adventure. While we share this journey with Mark and Mary, they would like to share with the world their passion for research and education funding for hydrocephalus.
Hydrocephalus Is a Neurological Disorder
Hydrocephalus is an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid within cavities called ventricles inside the brain. This condition may occur at any age. There is currently no prevention and no non-invasive, non-surgical treatment. The treatments available today to manage and alleviate the condition come with life-threatening complications. Many patients spend a lifetime managing the complications and battling hydrocephalus on an on-going basis.
The Hydrocephalus Association supports programs to raise awareness of this condition, stimulate research initiatives into causes and treatments and improve the clinical outcomes and quality of life for patients.
The Spirit of America Ride will feature updates on their progress but the focus will be on raising awareness and funding for the Hydrocephalus Association. Like Mark and Mary, several on the Celsius staff have personal connections to this devastating neurological disorder . We will be sharing some of their stories along with more information and a link you can use to donate to the Hydrocephalus Association. Stay tuned and follow Mark and Mary via your favorite social media channel.
