Coca-Cola "Coming Together" Commercial


Celsius CEO, Gerry DavidThe Coca-Cola Company recently released an ad titled “Coming Together”. The ad addresses the obesity epidemic and makes it clear that change is needed. I applaud Coca-Cola for coming forward and acknowledging that more Americans are struggling with unhealthy weight than ever before and obesity has become a major health concern. The world is changing and, I feel, the Coca-Cola Company is trying to evolve with the market. Within the ad, Coca-Cola is addressing the needs and wants of the modern consumer.

Coca-Cola Mini
Today, there are vast resources, educational materials, and health information available on the internet. Soft drink consumers have become far more educated about their health than they were when the Coca-Cola was founded over a century ago. Coke is taking small steps in the right direction by adding juice brands and other healthier alternatives to their product portfolio. They have even gone so far as to create low calorie and zero calorie options. At this time, Coca-Cola is targeting calories but this is only one of many factors of their products that can have adverse health effects on the human body. There are several other contributing factors and ingredients in their products that need to be addressed. I have confirmed with a local Coca-Cola retailer that the single serving (7.5 oz) mini cans cost more than double the price of the 2 liter (64 oz) bottles. If Coca-Cola was genuinely concerned about the obesity crisis in this country, they would make the single serving mini can more affordable than the 2 liter bottle.

With Coca-Cola leading the charge to offer more positive and healthy choices, I feel that Celsius products are positioned very well. Since its inception, Celsius has been there for consumers looking for a healthier alternative. While Coke is making the effort reduce sugar and high fructose corn syrups, Celsius is happy to say that all our products have always been free of sugar and high fructose corn syrup. Celsius also contains no artificial preservatives, colors, or flavors and is the world’s first negative calorie drink. We are proud to forgo dangerous chemicals and to include much more healthy ingredients in Celsius. Promoting a healthy lifestyle isn't an ad campaign for Celsius, it's just who we are.
