Mile 1628: Spirit of America Ride for Hydrocephalus – Day 34 Recap
Monday started out cloudy with temperatures rising to the 50’s and partially cloudy skies. The chilly air was a reminder that as we head north, the temperatures of the last two days will quickly become the norm rather than the exception. To our relief, we were able to dress with lighter clothing and no wind for a change. The day cleared and today’s biking turned out to be rather pleasant as the land had fewer rolling hills. We passed the 1600 mile mark about 20 miles out of Brady, Texas. Only a few weeks ago we hanging out on the sandy beaches of Florida. The only witnesses to this mileage feat were a field of Texas longhorn steers. They did not seem too impressed.
We peddled into Brady, stopping at another Best Western for the night. As before, the manager, Josie Melendez was great and gave us a reduced rate on our room. Thank you, Josie.
We are not sure how soon, but we anticipate we should be entering Texas cotton country on our Mark and Mary Ride for Hydrocephalus 2500 mile jaunt. We will keep you posted.
